Hello fellow organic gardeners of the Diamond XX. I’m organizing a group of Diamond XX residents to meet regularly (seasonally) and I’d like to hear from you (send me an email).
This group is designed for residents who grow organic in the Diamond XX and are interested in sharing helpful tips (growing techniques, ways to save water, predator control suggestions, homesteading skills, and so on). Eventually I’d like to organize some heirloom seed exchange opportunities as well for the group.
A little about me: I’m at 4399 Buckboard Drive, and my ranch has a website that you can check out if you like – www.PeaceDomeRanch.com
To receive event notices for this private group, please send me an email: gregoryjglaser@earthlink.net
Thank you. Have a nice day.
Greg Glaser
Our neighbor, Greg Glaser, is interested in getting a discussion going and maybe forming a group of DiamondXX gardeners. Look for an article or two from him here soon.
See the agenda below. Our neighbor Greg Glaser attended the last meeting and reported:
I noticed the group there is very pro-development. I don’t think they really grasped (or no one mentioned at least) the concept that the committee is allowed to consider more than just endangered species. They are allowed to promote biodiversity in all its particulars, which not coincidentally promotes increased development and land values. But by focusing solely on the endangered species ‘canned issue’, they sort of played into a prefabricated red herring designed to foment community discord and partisanship (a kind of neo-conservative anger/frustration with environmental law) rather than analyze the opportunity presented in the context of the already biodiverse Copperopolis landscape. As just one example, a key purpose of the ESA is to protect the habitat in which the endangered species lives, not just the species itself for its own sake – I suspect this purpose of the law may have been lost on much of the group due to the reactionary response invited by the structure of the meeting, and perhaps also a lack of education and interest in environmental diversity.
Here is an article about the last meeting from the Union Democrat:
So, if you have an interest or an opinion on any of this, please try to make it to the meeting. If you go and can send a report back, that would be great. Send it to me at jim@jperry.net.
If you have an opinion about our community plan, you should plan to attend this upcoming meeting! Thanks to our neighbor Carleen Mansour for passing this along:

Six Large goats, Toggenburgs (brown) and Alpines (white) and LaMancha (elf ears). All have goat chains, some have bells. Last seen on our lot on Conestoga, which seems to have a hole in the fence somewhere. Please call Jim or Juanita at 209-785-0823 if you have seen them.
Thanks!
Metal thieves at work in the Diamond XX
I just heard from a Diamond XX resident on Conestoga that they interrupted a metal theft in progress. The Sheriff said these thefts are rampant in our area. The suspects were two white males driving a copper or gold colored Chevy Silverado truck. There have been other recent incidents of metal theft in our development.
Please be sure to lock your gates, check your property often, and report any suspicious activity to 911.
