Burglary Attempt on Conestoga

2011 August 28
by Jim

I was just informed that one of our neighbors had an attempted break-in while they were away. Fortunately the would-be burglar(s) set off the alarm before gaining entry, but they left a coat hanger jammed in a patio door. The Calaveras Sherrif’s office is on the case, but we should all be watchful and don’t hesitate to call in suspicious activity.

A mountain lion was sighted near Stagecoach & Singletree this morning. This is about the same time last hear when I saw a mountain lion in just about the same location. I think they may be coming down through the creeks looking for drying-up pools to find fish & frogs. I know the coyotes have been hanging around my pond more than usual – lots of tracks.

Remember the storm of 2006? Diamond XX suffered over $1,000,000 in damage and parts of our community were trapped by roads that had washed out. Our area was declared a disaster area and FEMA agreed to help finance the repair of our roads.

Five years later, Public Works has finally received two checks from FEMA totaling $338,426 as reimbursement for the road repairs that were done in Diamond XX after the 2006 storms.
