Diamond XX Road Work

2009 October 5
by Jim

Hi everyone,
This Fall the Road Committee will be having the Public Works Dept. do its annual ditch clean-up before winter rains. Are there any specific areas that you’d like to inform us about that will require more attention?
Take care,

How about some really local weather? Look on the right sidebar for data from my weather station, updated every 10 minutes, and a webcam image of Flowers Lake. Click on the weather info to see weather history by the day, week, or month. Click the link to “more weather station data” for even more.

Not sure how accurate any of this is – I assume it is pulled from census data. Interesting nonetheless:

Hi all,
You may notice the site has a shiny new design. The software package I was using had security issues, so I moved the site to a different hosting platform. All documents from the old site are available here.

This new site could allow us to do some fun things in the future, including a services directory, event notifications, and buy & sell listings. Please use the comment area below to share your ideas.

Registration is not required to read the site or post comments, but is appreciated.

Note that search is broken until Google re-indexes the site. It returns results, but the links are broken. This should resolve on its own in a few days or weeks.

Search works now!

Enjoy,

The Road Committee as defined by Calaveras County Resolution No. 94-365:
Whereas, County Service Areas have been established to provide construction and maintenance of certain roads within the unincorporated territory; and
Whereas, it is advantageous to form a Road Committee for each County Service Area to advise the County regarding the perceived needs of each County Service Area; and Whereas, the purpose of these Road Committees is to act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors…

How one becomes a Road Committee member:
Volunteers are chosen by our district supervisor to serve without salary or any form of compensation. To volunteer, either request a form from County offices or download
the form from our website. It will then be up to our Supervisor whether the appointment to the committee will be made and for what length of term.

What to expect:
The present Road Committee stays in contact with members generally through email in order to obtain the feedback of as much of the community as possible. Committee members are contacted by residents and property owners by phone, email, and mail. Community meetings are held on an as needed basis in order to make decisions concerning the expenditure of funds by the county.
The committee also meets in San Andreas with Public Works and in Copperopolis with our supervisor. Weekly phone conversations with Public Works assures projects get the highest amount of regard and keeps the Road Committee informed of the budget, scheduled work, etc.

The present Road Committee consists of…
1. Former internal auditor for the Clorox Co., retired IBM executive of more than 33 years.
2. Grounds Supervisor at Las Positas College in Livermore for over 26 years, responsible for asphalt parking lots, asphalt roads and streets, drainage, weeds, signage, etc. Owner of multiple lots in the Diamond XX since 1982.
3. Self-employed former consultant to Scotts, Ortho, Monsanto, and other lawn & garden companies.
4. Director of Quality Control for Sutter Hospital

…And we need one more to complete a committee of 5.
